Aubade
A dawn song, sung and then left. Post to X, Bluesky and Mastodon — never see a feed.
Signed & notarized · macOS 14.0 or later (iPhone version on TestFlight) · for X, a free X developer app of your own — Aubade signs in with its Client ID and posts on your account, from your device · Bluesky (app password) and Mastodon (access token) are optional · Apple Intelligence features need a device that supports it
Aubade is a write-only composer. It has an editor, a live preview of exactly how your post will look, drafts that never get lost, threads, and images with alt text — and no timeline, no replies, no notifications, no counts. It cannot show you a feed because it never asks for one: it signs in to X with your own developer app and, if you like, to Bluesky and Mastodon, and does nothing but publish. Write once and choose where it goes. After you post, you get one link per network to what went out. Clicking one is the only way Aubade will ever open a feed. The name is the form of poem sung at dawn by a lover who is leaving: you sing, and then you go.
Features
- Write-only by construction — the app has no code path that reads a timeline, anywhere
- Cross-post to Bluesky and Mastodon: per-draft Post to chips, each network's own character limit checked before you publish, and a clear record of what went where if one fails
- Live X-style preview: your avatar and handle, styled links and @mentions, the 1–4 image grid, the thread line
- An undo window: a confirmed post waits 20 seconds (or what you choose) with Undo and Send now
- Quote posts: paste a post link, or share a post into Aubade from any app — no read of the quoted post, just a placeholder card
- Threads with polls and reply limits; a mid-thread failure tells you exactly which posts went out, and publishing again finishes the thread
- On-device Apple Intelligence, where available: shorten a post to fit, suggest a thread, draft alt text for an image
- Schedule on the Mac, or Queue for dawn; dictation on-device; a ⌃⇧A quick composer from the menu bar
- iPhone app on TestFlight with iCloud draft sync, a share-sheet extension and a Control Center control
