Exorcise — Privacy Policy
Last updated October 2, 2026
The short version
Exorcise collects nothing. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics SDKs, no advertising and no third-party trackers. The developer receives no information about you or your training. Your data leaves your device only through Apple Health, if you permit it, and — when you scan a barcode or search for a food — that barcode number or the words you typed, sent to public food databases to look up nutrition facts. The app also downloads exercise pictures, which sends nothing about you.
What the app stores
Your workouts, exercises, sets, personal records, food log and settings are stored locally on your device in Apple's on-device database (SwiftData). None of it is transmitted to the developer or to any third party. If you use the Apple Watch app, your current workout (exercise, set count, rest countdown) is shared between your iPhone and your paired Apple Watch, directly between your own devices.
Apple Health — what it reads
With your explicit permission, Exorcise reads heart rate, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, sleep, body weight, height, cardio fitness (VO₂max), date of birth and biological sex. These are used to calculate your readiness score and Spectral Age, and to show live heart rate during a workout. It also reads the active and resting energy you burn, to show your daily calorie balance, and the nutrition other apps have logged (calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat), so your daily totals include food you track elsewhere. All of this is read on your device and never leaves it.
Apple Health — what it writes
With your permission, Exorcise writes completed strength workouts — including the heart rate and active energy your Apple Watch recorded during the session, or estimated calories when no watch is used — the body-weight entries you log, and the foods you log (calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat). This data is stored by Apple Health, not by the developer. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings, and health data is never used for advertising.
Food lookups
When you scan a food barcode, Exorcise sends only the barcode number; when you search for a food by name, it sends only the words you typed (and, to narrow results, your device's region setting). These go to Open Food Facts and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's FoodData Central to fetch nutrition facts. Like any web request, these services see your device's IP address, and the request names the app and its version, as Open Food Facts asks every app to. Nothing else is sent — not your food log, your Health data or any identifier for you or your device. Foods you enter by hand, without searching, involve no network request.
Exercise pictures
Exercise demonstration pictures come from the open-source free-exercise-db and are downloaded from GitHub the first time you view them, then cached on your device. Like any web request, GitHub sees your device's IP address; nothing about you or your training is sent.
Data we collect
None. Exorcise does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data.
Notifications
If you enable workout reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere to deliver them.
Children
Exorcise does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
